Free Webinar Series on ACH / eCheck Processing Offered by ACH Direct and UMACHA
(ALLEN, TX – January 8, 2011) As consumer demand for electronic payment methods continues to surge it is becoming increasingly important for merchants to understand how to navigate the complexities that come with accepting ACH (eCheck) transactions. ACH Direct in partnership with the Upper Midwest ACH Association (UMACHA) is proud to once again offer a series of free webinars designed to help merchants navigate the regulations governing the ACH Network.
The webinar series, produced and presented by UMACHA, is intended to provide a basic to intermediate understanding of eCheck acceptance. This free webinar series is open to anyone who registers and will focus on specific aspects of eCheck processing that target a merchant’s specific needs.

Participants need to register in advance for each webinar at www.achdirect.com. Each session will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central Time and will include time for questions and answers.
The series topics and dates are as follows:
March 8, 2011 – Introduction to ACH
Discover the basic principles of the ACH Network, the history, legal framework, participants and flow of ACH transactions.
April 12, 2011 – Authorization Requirements
This session will provide details on ACH authorizations including, “Who is responsible for the authorization?”
May 17, 2011 – Exception Processing (Returns & NOCs)
Included will be details on a Notification of Change (NOC) outlining your responsibilities as an Originator (Company) and timeframes for compliance with the ACH Rules.
June 21, 2011 – Unauthorized Entries and Stop Payments
Details on why and when an entry is returned as unauthorized (consumer and corporate entries) and what your role and obligations are as an Originator (Company).
July 19, 2011 – e-Check Conversion Products
Requirements for Originators (Companies) for WEB (Internet Initiated Entries) and TEL (Telephone Initiated Entries) will be discussed in detail.
August 16, 2011 – WEB and TEL Entries
A paper check converted to an ACH transaction, specifically ARC, POP and BOC will be examined in this session.
September 13, 2011 - Check Basics / Check 21
This session will cover basic information on how a check travels; the participants in the check process; the regulations and an overview of Check 21.
October 18, 2011 – Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) Basics / Corporate Capture
Join us to hear the corporate benefits of using RDC; company warranties; how to avoid duplicate processing; secure storage and destruction of the paper check will be discussed.
